Board of Directors

The Board is composed of a number of functions that are described below. Typically, the board meets once per month except during the busy Jan/Feb period. Linked to this page, a 12-month calendar of Board meetings is included which describes the focus of each monthly meeting through the seasons.

President

Current President: Carolyn Raab

They preside over board of director meetings and the AGM. At any of the meetings they can ask for the election of a meeting president. They propose the agenda and are responsible for the observance of all appropriate meeting protocols by those attending the meeting. They are responsible for the implementation of all decisions adopted at the AGM. They ensure that all members of the boards of directors pursue their tasks and responsibilities. They are the official representative of the club to any other organizations (provincial, municipal, schools, etc). They are co-signer with the treasurer/secretary of operations, for all banking transactions.They ensure an appropriate control over the managements of funds leaving and entering the club. They see to the application of all club regulations. They must be available to members of the club to hear any and deal with any concerns or issues presented. They call and lead meetings as required for the smooth operations of the club. They call a meeting of the Boards of Directors to study the budgets before September 15th. They accomplish within the bounds of his mandate, all the tasks assigned to him by the Board of Directors. In case of their extended absence or their resignation, the Vice President assumes their functions up until a new president is nominated by the Board of Directors.

Vice President

Current Vice President: Sean Kennedy

They accomplish within the bounds of their mandate, all the tasks assigned to them by the Board of Directors. In case of an extended absence or the resignation of the President, the Vice-President assumes the President’s functions up until a new president is nominated by the Board of Directors.

Secretary

Current Secretary: MJ Lavergne

Create agendas ahead of each board meeting in collaboration with President and distribute to Board of Directors
Assist at the club meetings by taking minutes and tracking action items as well as keeping agenda/time. With the president, they sign the minutes.
Distribute minutes to BoD shortly after each meeting.
With the register, keep track of club members in good standing.
Send all pertinent information to club members required for the AGM or any other meetings which require their presence.
They keep and archive all club documentation.
They accomplish within the bounds of their mandate, all the tasks assigned to them by the Board of Directors.

Treasurer

Current Treasurer: Manon Desjardins

They assist at the club meetings and present the financial status of the club. They ensure an effective control of all funds entering and leaving the club. They do the bookkeeping for the club. Whenever possible, they sign all banking transactions of the club with the president or the secretary to pay all authorised payments. They are responsible for the club bank accounts. They are responsible for the bookkeeping and must provide a written financial report to the president and the club at the AGM. At the end of the fiscal year, they must transmit the books to the verifying accountant for verification and must present the results at the AGM. They prepare a budget in collaboration with the executive members and administers and manage the ongoing budget. They oversee all financial aspects of the club and make sure that all decisions are applied properly. Only the president, in collaboration with the Board of Directors can relieve the treasurer from their duties. They accomplish within the bounds of their mandate, all the tasks assigned to them by the Board of Directors. They are responsible for the registration of all the club members into the appropriate associations (for example SFQ, NCD and CCO) and pay the association’s fees.

Nordic Race Director

Current Director: Pierre Trudel

Represents the interests of the Nordic Race program at the board level
Ensures the club's strategic plan and Nordic Race priorities are aligned
Actively promotes Nordic Race athletes and parents volunteer participation in club-wide activities with special attention to racing related fundraising: Regional roller-ski time trlals, Ski Swap, Sprint Race, Cookie Beiner, Biathlon race, etc...
As required, represents Chelsea Nordiq at nordic racing related activities in the region or elsewhere. These activities can include regional race planning, NCC meetings, SFQ meetings/events, ENGN, etc...
Coordinates closely with the Biathlon Director and coaches on Rider's Roost, race trail and range facility matters
As with all director positions, is also tasked with leading a committee and reporting back to the board on committee matters

Biathlon Director

Current Director: David Fairchild

Represents the interests of the Biathlon program at the board level
Ensures the club's strategic plan and Biathlon priorities are aligned
Actively promotes Biathlon athletes and parents volunteer participation in club-wide activities with special attention to racing related fundraising: Ski Swap, Sprint Race, Cookie Beiner, Biathlon race, etc...
As required, represents Chelsea Nordiq at biathlon racing related activities in the region or elsewhere. These activities can include regional race planning, NCC meetings, BION or FBQ meetings/events, ENGN, etc...
Coordinates closely with the Nordic Race Director and coaches on Rider's Roost, race trail and range facility matters
As with all director positions, is also tasked with leading a committee and reporting back to the board on committee matters

Adventure Director

Represents the interests of the Adventure programs at the board level
Ensures the club's strategic plan and Adventure priorities are aligned
Actively promotes Adventure athletes and parents volunteer participation in club-wide activities with special attention to these club activities: Ski Swap, Jackrabbit Jamboree, Cookie Beiner
As with all director positions, is also tasked with leading a committee and reporting back to the board on committee matters

Jackrabbit Director

Current Director: OPEN

Represents the interests of the Jackrabbit and Bunnyrabbit programs at the board level
Ensures the club's strategic plan and Jackrabbit priorities are aligned
Actively promotes Jackrabbits and parents volunteer participation in club-wide activities with special attention to these club activities: Jackrabbit Jamboree
As with all director positions, is also tasked with leading a committee and reporting back to the board on committee matters

Head Coach

Current Head Coach: Moe Samm

oversees both Biathlon and Nordic Race programs
manages and directs High Performance coaches
coordinates ski skills development across all club programs

Exec. Director

Current Executive Director: Moe Samm

ensures the club's strategic plan is aligned across all programs
assumes managerial responsibility for club's administration
coordinates coach and volunteer development
as required, represents Chelsea Nordiq at all external cross-country ski and biathlon related activities in the region or elsewhere. These activities can include regional race planning, NCC meetings, SFQ meetings/events, ENGN, etc...

Directors at large

Current Directors at large: Chris Lawson, Annie-Claude Michaud

Each director at large will wish to identify themselves with a mandate and become the champion of that area. For instance, 'volunteerism' or 'communications' or 'strategic plan'.
