Sunday Feb. 25: Rails to trails ski

posted by Nick Anning

We'll meet at 10:00am at Farm Point and ski the rails to trails track to the CLSC building in Chelsea.
Total distance about 19km. Conditions should be fast.
There are goodies on the way.
Lots of draw prizes, including special draw prize opportunities for those who complete the whole ski.
If you can't ski the whole distance there are places on the way to dip out early and a shuttle bus will take you to Farm Point or CLSC. Or you can get picked up from near where you stop.
Best to have a cell phone with you if you need to call someone for pick up.
It was a really fun event last year, so hopefully lots of SA skiers can join us this year.

Last details planning meeting - this is an important meeting because we will not have much time to answer questions on Friday evening.  We will discuss  what sections to ski, shuttle times, what time to arrive at the dorm and answer questions etc.- bring your skis and we will go for a short ski after.  Please remember that you will have to park at the bottom of the hill (end of the lower parking lot at Camp fortune and ski up to the chalet.

We will ski to McKinstry cabin and back approximately 20km with the option to add on a few kms (+ 5km round trip to the fire tower) or to stop in at the cabin for a snack.  We are skiing in and out so it is not necessary to do the whole distance.  For parents who are skiing with us - be sure to arrive early as this parking lot can fill up - we can shuttle to P 13 if necessary. See you there!

Come on out to ski under the fresh snow flakes and the Blue Moon!
We can definitely go further that just to Healy and back but if you'd like to a break with a hot thermos, this is where we'll be.

The Parkway loop is 21km and there are options to lengthen the distance (or shorten if you have time constraints).  Skate or classic (find out what your friends are doing!)  We are aiming to finish at 12:30 but it might take a bit longer... See you there!
