This is
week 18 in our
yearly training program, this means that it is a building week. Wow, awesome training camp at the SOD this week. I am very proud of athletes that went and how they trained, what they learned and the relationships that they formed with other athletes. There was a lot of excellent training and learning to be had from other coaches and athletes. We had sessions in skate roller skiing, classic roller skiing, strength training, nutrition, race preparation, traveling to Europe to train in a ski tunnel in the summer, we went on a high ropes/ zip line course. I also got to attend lectures on sports psychology, physiology, training program development and the latest in ski technique. We had an action packed 5 days. I want to congratulate Dan and Alex Dupuis, this was Dan's first time roller skiing and Alex's first time Classic skiing and they showed real awesomeness. Starting September 4th we will be training Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday practices. There is going to be two options for training, 3 or 4 days a week. If you have questions about which program is for you than please talk with me. Registration will be open soon, until this time please come out to practice. Please note that our yearly Adirondacks trip will be September 21st to 23rd. Please let me know if you are interested in coming to this camp, is always a blast. We will be focusing on lots of Hiking LSD, strength and a whole bunch of fun. Please sign up for this camp on the following Google Doc and let me know who among your families is wanting to come. I need to know this information by August 31st. I have not heard from very many of you. The training program is set up to build you little by little, it should be rare that you feel as though you are totally destroyed after a work out. If you are than your recovery time is going to be longer which will affect the next training. Training also builds over time so if you are missing out on training or you are not doing your own self training you will find that you suffer in team work outs when you do show up. Being successful in a work out is very important to your mental development and your enjoyment of the sport. If you are not able to complete a work out then you don't feel as successful and it is not as fun. We will be focusing on pacing, strength and roller ski technique. Sunday, September 2nd
