Training Info for May

Here is the training for May. 


Our first training is May 2nd 6:30 to 8pm at the NCC visitors centre at 33 Scott road in Chelsea and our first team meeting will be May 9th 6:30 - 8pm location TBA. The goal of this meeting will be to explain the season and get organized for the year. 

Our first Sunday Training May 7th is an orienteering event at P16, there is a $7 cost for athletes and a $13 cost for people over 20yrs. I recommend that every family member give this try because it is very fun. 

Equipment for the Summer Program you will need:
Quality running shoes
Water Bottle and holder
Watch with heart rate monitor
Skate and Classic roller skis  (Biathletes and new roller skiers do not need classic roller skis but it is recommended as it is good training) 
Skate and Classic Roller ski poles with roller ski tips, snow baskets are not good for pavement
Skate and classic boots
Bike Helmet (no helmet no roller ski
Thin ski glovers for roller skiing
Optional: Mountain Bike, This year we will be doing some mountain bike training for those that are interested, this is not mandatory as there will always be running training happening at the same time.

8-12pm time will vary depending on training. Most trainings will be 2-3 hours during this time

* a mountain bike is not mandatory only for those athletes that are wanting to train by mountain biking, there will always be roller skiing or running training running at the same time. 


We are still working on the roller ski time trial schedule, with other clubs. The first one will likely be June 18th. a detailed summer training plan and strength plans will be given out in the first week of training.

Younger athletes will have a modified training plan. This training plan will be explain in the first weeks for training.

Unofficial East Burke Mountain biking Camp, East Burke, Vermont

May long week end 19 to 22nd

This a family organized week end, the mountain biking here is excellent for beginners and experienced. 

This is a family organized event cost for travel, food and camping will be organized by the family. 

Local Roller Ski technique Camp

June 11th

14+ (2003 and older)

This will be a roller ski technique intensive. This is long range planning and subject to change

Owl Rafting in Foresters Falls

June 26 to 29th

All athletes 14 (2003) and Up

This is a early summer volume and team building camp. All athletes are recommended to attend. 

+/- $200 includes food, tent sites

Chelsea Summer Volume Camp.

Month of July, More details to come

All athletes 14 (2003) and Up

 This camp will run for the month of July for both biathletes and cross country skiers will have the options of choosing single or multiple weeks. The goal is to do some quality volume and training in smaller groups

Quebec  Juvenile camp, Mont Tremblant

August 14 to 16th, near Mont Tremblent

13 to 15 yrs old (2004 - 2002)

This is the Quebec Juvenile camp it is some quality training with many other athletes from across Quebec. 

+/- $200 cost includes travel, food and accommodations

Local Midget and Juvenile Roller ski technique and volume camp, 

August 21-23rd

12 to 15 yrs old (2005 - 2002)

This is for midgets and juveniles to get a start on the roller ski season. 

$50 for those signed up in the summer program $100 not signed up for the summer Chelsea, Program. 

Local Junior Camp

16 yrs and older (2001 and older)

This is for Junior athletes and older, there are a couple of clubs that are trying to this together, details are still being worked on

Unofficial Adirondacks, Lake Placid 

September 15 to 17th

All

This is going to be an epic hiking week end. We will be training our selves for a 30-40km/day outing, many mountains will be topped on this trek.
