Training April 30 to May 6

YeeeHaaaa!!!!!!!!  Our season begins again. The road to Canadian Ski Nationals and Biathlon Nationals 2013 begins. 

Training this year is going to happen from 6:00 – 7:30 pm on Monday and Wednesday. Sunday’s Practice will happen from 9 -11. Training will be located in many locations in the Gatineau park and Ottawa/Gatineau. I will be communicating through this part of the website of our great new website. This will be similar to our old clubhouse. I will rarely use email to communicate practices and locations.  Thanks Pablo and crew for setting this up. 

The focus of this summer program is going to be strength, running and roller skiing with lots of focus on technique, fun and getting stronger. We will also have fun social activities and times where we try out other sports. I have also been organizing training with the other clubs in the region so we should have some good fun and hard training this summer. You will need to have running gear (mostly trail running), classic and skate roller skis, poles, ski gloves and a helmet. Biathletes you can skate roller ski only but it is highly recommended, if budget allows, that you classic as it is good training, great for balance and good for you to have another technique to use when doing your long skis during the summer and fall. 

Get your self registered after yesterday there was only 4 people registered, once you are registered I will send you your training programs. 

Once a week during the first part of the summer we will be running on the  track to work on pacing and running technique. Strength we will try at Chalet Des Erable until the bugs chase us off and we will find a new location after that. For the month of May we will focus on core. 

I have attached a Gatineau park map to the filing cabinette on the details page it is also post to the bottom of this post. This will help anyone who is new to the gatineau park and its many parking lots. Anytime that I mention a training place like P8,9,10,11,12, etc. You will be able to find it on this map if you are not familar with the location.

Sunday May 6th

  • Activity: Ski walking, Ski walking technique and strength
  • When: 9 - 11

  • Bring: Running poles, running Gear, water and snack for after practice.

Monday May 7th 

  • Activity: first intensity running (10x200m) and running technique
  • When: 6 - 7:30pm
  • Location: Philimon Wright High School (See Map for location)
  • Bring: Running Gear, water and snack for after practice.

Wednesday, May 9th  

  • Activity: Strength and Running
  • Location: Chalet Des Erables
  • When: 6:00 - 7:30
  • Bring: Running gear, water, snack for after practice


Sunday May 13th 

  • Activity: Distance Ski walking orange peel run.
  • When: 9 - 11 pm

  • Bring: Running poles, running Gear, water, snack for after practice.  
  • Dress for the weather
