Sat. Jan. 18: some "classic" options

posted Jan 16, 2020, 6:45 PM by Nick Anning

First of two bigger ski days. Great prep. for CSM or Hut to Hut. Classic skiing.
It's going to be a trifle chilly, so layer up and we'll be going up (with a cabin in the distance) to warm-up!
Going to give four 'distance' options, some with different pick up locations, so make sure your chauffeur knows where you're finishing the ski before you start.
We will meet at 9:30am at P12. Estimated ski times given as well. Here you go:

Option 1: P12-McKinstry cabin-P12 (20km) 9:30am-12:00pm
Option 2: P12-Fire tower (via McKinstry cabin)-P12 (25km) 9:30am-12:30pm
Option 3: P12-McKinstry cabin-P10 (via Burma) 28km. 9:30am-1:00pm
Option 4: P12-McKinstry cabin-Visitor Centre/Les Saisons (via Burma) 32km 9:30am-1:30pm ( (the real classic!)

If you're not familiar with the trails please take a look at the park map before Saturday morning.

Yep, we're going to hit some backcountry trails from P7.
Option for out and back on Ridge for those who want to build distance instead.

Skiing is On!!

Hi folks, looks like we will attempt to ski the parkway tomorrow starting from P9 up to the Champlain Lookout.  I would suggest we walk the road up to P10 given the trails will be extremely icy in the morning.  Looking forward to an awesome post-Christmas ski and a group "Pray for snow ceremony"!!!

Sat. Dec. 21: it's time for Christmas cookies

posted Dec 19, 2019, 7:37 PM by Nick Anning

You need to look like it's Christmas: hats, lights, classic sweaters, fun colours, santa beards - whatever you've got!
And please bring cookies to share with all the younger Adventure kids because we're going to find them at Keogan :)
And maybe spontaneous festivities after practice. (or at least a trip into the village for coffee and doughnuts!)

Wed. Dec. 18: Oh my, it's beautiful in the park right now

posted Dec 17, 2019, 6:47 PM by Nick Anning

So let's ski from Camp Fortune to Huron for cookies and hot chocolate (bring some goodies and a candle).

Park in lower Fortune lot, on the left, near the trail up to Chalet des Erables.
We'll meet outside Chalet des Erables at 7.03pm. Please be on time, as it's going to be cold so we won't hang around waiting for long :)
Conditions are great, but still don't bring brand new skis.
Classic or skate is fine.
Pick up back at Fortune at 8:30pm
